Come experience a unique showcase of incredible songs, storytelling, collaboration and community. This concert series brings you 4 talented songwriters curated by Aaron Nathans, Avi Wisnia, and Meghan Cary. Each month, a different line up of stand out artists share the stage, taking turns performing an eclectic variety of original songs, sharing the stories behind those songs, and speaking to the unique perspective that comes with having strong connections to the Philadelphia music scene. Our September concert features:David Kleiner, Karen Dahlstrom, Lena Fine and your host Aaron Nathans.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
David Kleiner
On his one-owner 1965 Hummingbird, David offers adept finger picking on tuneful songs with precise lyrics, across a wide variety genres. Fans who saw David open for artists like Pat Wictor and Dave Matthews or headline iconic venues like Charlottesville’s Prism and Philly’s World Cafe may have heard tender acoustic love songs, energetic rock, outrageous humor, or incisive political commentary. But you can be assured they left both entertained and reflective.

Karen Dahlstrom
Karen Dahlstrom is a performing songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY. Her original songs are rooted in traditional folk and Americana styles. Karen has performed both as a solo artist and as a member of the Americana-folk band Bobtown. She’s won songwriting awards at the Mid-Atlantic Song Competition and is a two-time finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition. Her debut EP, Gem State, includes songs inspired by her home state of Idaho. Her 2019 release, No Man's Land, is an intimate collection of songs recorded with just voice and acoustic guitar.

Lena Fine
Lena Fine is an indie rock/folk musician based in Philadelphia, PA. Born and raised in northern New Jersey, Lena began writing music at age 14, taking nods and inspiration from the likes of Soccer Mommy, Pinegrove, and Liz Phair. With the release of her latest record, Slow Crawl Towards the Sun, Lena finally shared the work and the world she’s spent the past four years of her life in music building. The record is a nine track exploration of her personal sound set to themes of desire, friendship, and all the grief and frustration that come from knowing your worth in the arena of love.

Aaron Nathans
Aaron Nathans is a Philadelphia-based alternative folk music singer, songwriter and recording artist with a distinct sound, due in large part to a combination of rhythmic acoustic guitar, wide-ranging baritone vocals and beautiful melodies that you won’t soon forget. When pairing that with talented songwriting that touches on everyday life and easily connects with audiences, you’ll see why Aaron is someone you won’t want to miss.

DRINK: Our neighbors at The Ways Restaurant and Brewery have a bar set-up in the back of the venue and will be selling their delicious beer. BYO-Wine is allowed with a $5 corkage fee per person. No Hard Liquor or outside beer permitted.
FOOD: We sell small snacks at each event, but we are not a restaurant and do not have table service. We strongly recommend having dinner at The Ways Restaurant and Brewery beforehand and we do allow outside food in the venue if you wish to bring it in.
PARKING: Guests of The Royal are permitted to park in the parking lot of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Enter the lot on Mt. Carmel Avenue, on the other side of Easton Road. Parking is available at the Glenside Train Station, but at your own risk as we are not associated or contracted with SEPTA. Street parking is also available.
